Storage Solutions Saturday By Gizmola

Since it's Saturday and most people don't even post on Saturdays so whatever I post will be brilliant I'm going to write about our top Storage Solutions:

Drawers
We keep our 2 forks, one knife and spoon in a drawer in the kitchen. We don't use one of those fancy things that separates the silverware in the drawer. We just wrap a rubberband around the utensils and put them in the drawer! That leaves more room in the drawer for my broken spatula, half-melted big spoon and used Star Trek band-aid ears.

Drinking Glasses
We used to have a collection of fine Waterford drinking glasses my mother gave me. But when we moved we had to either get rid of those or our Star Trek books so we threw the glasses away. Now we keep our cabinets empty by not using glasses. Instead, we just drink straight out of the faucet or the milk carton. Sometimes I'll find Dan drinking straight from Therese. It's called simplifying your life!

Bedding
A lot of people think you need more than one set of sheets and blankets. We keep our space clean by only having one set of sheets and an old sleeping bag as a blanket. We got them all at the Free Store and after about four years we think most of the fleas and bedbugs are just about gone. Once a month I use the Wonderwash to wash the sheets but since it's too small for the sleeping bag I just mist it with a solution of soap nut liquid and water ($0.04). We also don't use pillow cases because there's not really any need.

Shoes
Shoes can quickly clutter your closet. That's why we only keep one pair for Dan, one pair for me and the boys don't have any. They're little children and don't need shoes yet. Since we're in the apartment 24/7 they don't need to protect their feet. Only once did Bobby step on something but it was just an old apple core (which I popped into the freezer for later applesauce making)

Other storage
For anything else I either put it in a Rubbermaid tote or I throw it in the corner and cover with a sheet.
